The Gander River Management Association (GRMA) is non profit, Communitty Based Watershed Management Group dedicated to the wise management of the "Mighty" Gander River.
The Association is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing a broad base of organizations who have a vested interest in the mangement of the Gander River.
GRMA was formed in 1994 after many interested citizen groups within the Gander River watershed realized that many areas of the river desperatley need management improvements.
GRMA was thus formed as an umbrella organization with representatives elected by members of its constituent organizations. These organizations include;
Town Councils
Local Service Districts
Indian
Band Councils
Anglers
Outfitters
Chamber of Commerce
Employment Association
Cabin Owners
Economic Zone Board
Tourism Association
We were formally awarded Community Watershed Management Status by the Provincial Government in November
of 1996.
GRMA is involved in ecosystem management with a focus on developing the recreational fishery. Initiatives include (among others), scientific research, assessments, habitat improvements, marketing, and development. For more information on GRMA Click "here"
