Welcome to the GRMA

The Gander River Management Association (GRMA) is a non-profit, community-based watershed management group dedicated to the wise management of the "Mighty" Gander River.
The Association is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing a broad base of organizations who have a vested interest in the management of the Gander River.
GRMA was formed in 1994 after interested citizen groups within the Gander River watershed realized that many areas of the river desperately needed management improvements.
GRMA was formed as an umbrella organization with representatives elected by members of its constituent organizations. These organizations include:
In 1996 the GRMA was formally awarded Community Watershed Management Status by the Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
GRMA is involved in ecosystem management with a focus on developing the recreational fishery. Initiatives include (among others), scientific research, assessments, habitat improvements, marketing, and development.
